01 / NETWORK DETAILS

Meet the network.

Asterra Testnet is an EVM-compatible environment for trying wallets, contracts, and applications. Use test EMBER for gas. Tokens on this network are for testing and do not represent monetary value.

02 / WALLET SETUP

Add Asterra to your wallet.

In your wallet, choose Add a network or Add a custom network, then enter the values from Network details. Save and switch to Asterra Testnet. Your wallet should show chain ID 900149.

Download Asterra Wallet (.zip)

Unzip the download, then load its dist folder as an unpacked extension in your browser’s extension settings.

Using Asterra Wallet?

The extension already defaults to the hosted Asterra RPC. Open Settings to confirm the node URL, then return here to request test EMBER.

03 / TEST TOKENS

Test EMBER pays for gas.

Every EVM transaction spends a small amount of EMBER as gas. The faucet can send 1 EMBER per address every 24 hours, subject to availability and request limits.

  • EMBER from this faucet is native testnet gas currency.
  • It is not a stablecoin, has no dollar peg, and cannot be redeemed.
  • A faucet request is a normal on-chain transfer and may take a moment to appear.
Keep networks separate

Do not send mainnet assets to an Asterra testnet address expecting a bridge or recovery.

04 / FOR BUILDERS

Make your first connection.

Point an EVM JSON-RPC client at the public endpoint. Check the reported chain ID before you deploy or submit transactions.

JSON-RPC CHECK
// ethers v6
const provider = new JsonRpcProvider(
  "https://rpc.ascohosting.space"
);
const network = await provider.getNetwork();
console.log(network.chainId); // 900149

The RPC is a shared public endpoint. Avoid sending personal information in request metadata.

READY TO TEST?
